Description
The Celtic Cross combines Christian symbolism (the cross) with elements of the Old Religions (the sun ring and knotwork designs).
I got to wondering how one would go about working one up with UF, and this is the result. Thanks for looking!

Really beautiful Paul!

Very nicely done Paul. I seem to remember a Celtic knot coloring from way back. Is that the trick here. (My head is also working out torus xforms in the background.) The massing and balance are perfect.

I like the Celtic cross, Paul. The background is easily from UF, but is the cross superimposed on it? Nice, whatever way you have achieved it. Over 30 years ago, I used to draw Celtic crosses and knotwork by hand, and learnt Celtic calligraphy, for presentation illuminated scrolls etc. I initially used one of Scottish designer George Bain's old construction books, for inspiration. I'm sure that I still have it somewhere. I'm sure that I came across a program some years ago, which claimed to generate knotwork, but never followed it up. I took up fractal landscape rendering, first on the ATARI St and AMIGA, before upgrading to a PC with the first BRYCE 3D, VISTA PRO and the embryo VUE D'ESPRIT programs. Any good Celtic crosses I see in churchyards, I try to photograph. This effort is nice and clean. Regards, John.
