Description

This is what's left after the poppies have bloomed. While the seeds are forming and ripening, this is what the plants look like. Once the seeds are ripe, these bulbs start to thin and decompose, eventually releasing all those seeds, each one a potential flower for next year. Ann's garden, early July, 2007.

Terrific POV, colors and clarity depicted in this shot of the stately poppy plants; the innocent looking pods containing the future harvest of opium, one of Afghanistan's largest exports.
