I am a Lancastrian living in the White Rose County of Yorkshire, hence the moniker.
Since moving here, I have managed to get out and about around the North Yorks moors and the coastal areas. I love taking taking photographs, but until I can afford a dSLR, I am having to make do with a 2.1 Megapixel Olympus C-700UZ, which I bought in 2002, with very few attachments.Â
I can't say if my technique is any good, as I have absolutely no training. It's simply a case of my posting the pictures I like. Some of them are a bit abstract, some documentary, and some are uncomplicated. I very rarely crop and never play with colour and the only other adjustments I might make would be to alter the angle very slightly as I feel that even if the camera can lie, I can't. If a picture is really bad, it gets deleted!
I don't do portraits, simply because I can never do my subjects justice

It's good, but I think you shoul have cut a bit more of the foreground, leave just the birds ...

Nice image. I like the contrast of the birds feeding on a not-so-pristine beach and the ugly industrial complex on the background. Civilization is indeed a prodigious producer of eyesores!

Why do we pollute these beautiful places... nice shot !

Apart from the two plastic bottles, which I did put in the bin afterwards, the rest is seaweed. The previous night, there had been a heavy sea and had been really turbulent. The Corus Steelworks have a beauty in their own right, but I say that from a point of view of someone who loves industrial architecture. When I see the Steelworks as I come over the hill after a long distance drive, I know I am almost home, so there is also sentimental attachment to them.

maybe the rise in the beach is slag? I enjoy industrial architecture from my days as a mechanical draftsman, although a necessary evil, they need to clean up their act.a local lead smelter polluted and entire neighborhood here and not only did they have to close,it is costing them millions to remove tainted soil and law suits for people that died from contamination excellent capture

I love the plastic bottles, but you had to ruin the shot with sand, seaweed, birds and industry! :o) Seriously though, an excellent capture, it's means home to me as well, nice work!
