Description

This is a watercolor painting I did a long time ago, 1991. I used it as one of the hanging pictures in my previous image 'Come with me Kira'. thumb_1590876.jpg I'm posting it both because I was asked, and because it is one of very few images that was most influenced by world events that happen almost exactly 17 years ago. It started as a very bright painting with simple colorful shapes, but as the first gulf war broke out and proceeded it got more 'crowded' and the colors got muted and darker. Technically I learned a lot since, but I still feel very connected to it emotionally. Comments of any kind are always very welcome.

Excellent colour scheme. The general image makes me think of a cold underwater place with a warm, almost burning "being" at the core. The light in the dark, the warmth in the cold.

A rebirth of life from the sea's depth? The colors are peaceful and dynamic with a certain tension building up to an explosion. Almost like a sleeping giant laying in bed, trying to decide whether it's worth it to get up and kick the neighbor's butts for making such a fuss. I like this. Good work! ^__^

oh, thank you so much! my first thought was underwater, too, but then i saw trees at dusk or deep twilight, with the phoenix lighting up the trees. i absolutely love this. the colors are great, and i love the curling spiral of fire at the heart of it, now contained but about to break free. this is great!

It might be under water, or under conscious awareness. A raging fire submerged for the moment. Many interpretations are possible.Lovely work.
