Description

Hi - thanks for stopping by to have a look. "Inside the Artifact" is a science fiction image inspired by 'Alien,' '2001: A Space Odyssey' and others... The lone figure in a spacesuit, flashlight in hand, exploring the ancient alien artifact. I was going for atmosphere here, and most of it was achieved in post. Several passes of the figure in Dreamlight's dRoom prop were rendered - the lights on the walls, the one from above, the flashlight and an ambient pass - then a Mood Master render. The cone of the flashlight was done using joelegecko's 'glow' shader and also rendered seperately - then recompositied. There is a layer of volume done with the 'luce' plugin for photoshop and several layers of hand painted fog and haze. In the end I think the atmosphere rather dominates the image - which is what I was trying to accomplish. Production credits: -- Rendered in DAZ|Studio 1.8.5 and postworked in Adobe Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Graphire Tablet -- dRoom - available free to members through the Dreamlight Members Club. -- uberSpot and uberPoint lights from DAZ -- Major Cache by Uzilite from DAZ -- Ron's Fog Brushes available from Rendo This was something of an experiment and I really value your opinions and suggestions as to how it turned out. Wow! The colors and lighting really help that sense of mystery. I'd say you really got the effect you were looking for, considering your inspirations for it. (Some of my favorite movies, too!) Amazing work, it must have taken forever!

The single thing that I half expected that flashlight light will dissipate/fade sooner. Of cause, it can be explained by higher level of technology but still. Otherwise it is amazing work :)

Great work and idea Michael, I like your way of creating your images (even though I don't have the patience to do the same!).

Great job creating an atmosphere of an epically large structure. The lighting and the slight haze came out very well.

Wow, that's using some imagination, I really like that, gives you a "lost" feeling like in a dream lol. I hate scary dreams like that lol. Great work! PS, check my work out, learned about lighting and shading (second render) then shaders (third render). Regards... wolfie
