Description

Hi-- Thanks for stopping by. This was something of a departure from my usual, and I thought I'd share it. Sometimes we need to step our of our comfort zone. It's probably a too dark.. but oh well. "The Dragon Nebula" was inspired by a John Howe painting in his "Fantasy Art Workshop" book - highly recommended. Some of the starfield and nebula effects were rendered in POV Ray and the 'dragon' started life as a DAZ|Studio render of DAZ's Wyvern model. Everything else was hand painted in Photoshop. Special thanks to "Sethren" at www.solarvoyager.com for the "Realistic Planet" tutorial. As always constructive criticism is most welcome.

Well, maybe a bit dark, but even that wouldn't change a lot, looks great Michael and I really love the execution and final result!

I'm always impressed with your work. This one is no exception, great idea and fantastic execution. The only thing I wonder about is the planet's shadow. It 'feels' like it should be darker. I know how much of a perfectionist you are, so I am guessing that the problem isn't the shadow but my limited knowledge. So you're going to make me go diggin up reference photos. The nebula itself is fascinating, I keep going back to it, it seems to be in motion. Love it.
