Description

This was taken the first hour of my trip home from near SF on Saturday. There's an area just south of the city that creates some of the most bizarre weather I've ever encountered. And this is the spot---the rain came down so hard, this is exactly what I was seeing - virtually nothing!! Fortunately, everyone slowed waaaaaay down, I was going about 25 mph here. It only lasted about 10 minutes, once you get over the hill, it almost stops. I think it's haunted or something!! Oh yeah, all I did to take this foto was to grab the camera, I barely took my hand off the wheel. Talk about point and shoot!!!

I know of a similar spot I went through where in one curve of the mountain road, the sun never shines. It was chilly up there but on this one curve, it was snowing. As soon as I drove out of the curve it was gone...just that one spot about 50 yards long had extreme and bizaar weather. Great shot you managed to get.

Point and shot works everytime for me! Although with shots like these from the windscreen view, I am usually the passenger! Be careful! excellent but risky shot!

Crazy weather. looks like the times you put the wipers on full speed and it just mkes no difference at all to the visibility.

I have thought about taking pictures like that here but my hands are so tight on the steering wheel I get cramps in them. We also have to be careful there is no ice on the roads as well. This weather we have all been having makes you want to scream. Great picture though. Keep safe hope you do not have to many days to drive through that kind of weather. Karen

Gadz, I'm getting a terrible reputation here!!! Believe me, I take NO chances and take this kind of foto only when I can do it safely. Yeah, I know, here it doesn't look safe at all; people were crawling very slowly, there was hardly any traffic, oh well, I'll just be VERY careful!!!

Terrific textural and gauzy effects going here! Way to go! In contrast to the previous comments, I will not excoriate you on your decision to snap this magnificent and momentous shot, Marilyn. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
