Description

My parents got married in 1957, and this was my mother's engagement ring. She died in 1971, and the ring came to me when I turned 18. I wore it for several years, off and on. I have one niece (she would have been my mother's only grandchild) and on her 18th birthday, I gave her the ring. (You won't be surprised to hear she likes it!) Hard to believe this ring is now over 50 years old. (Harder to believe I'LL be 50 years old this year! LOL!) Shot macro, hand-held, outdoors, on a nice sunny day in August.

Still a bling-babe, Tara!! I stopped wearing rings when I took all the skin off one of my fingers on the tap whilst washing my hands! (TMI!)

Excellent macro. I'm sorry to say I'm older than that ring... but I feel just as brilliant... LOL A very nice story and I understand the meaning in it. My dad had a gold ring he wore from 1937 until the day he died in 1987. It was then passed to me. I had the engraving renewed (had to have it sent out as only a few people in the US still do that style of engraving) and wore it for many years. Now it sits in a secure spot, waiting to be passed to my eldest grandson when I go on to my Great Reward...

Ah, the 50's I remember those years fondly, unfortunately!!! Come and gone, sigh Great shot and what a wonderful gift for your niece. I have some very old stones as well, lots of memories, and have given my son a couple of rings from his grandmother as well. Some day he can give them to the woman of his dreams.

Not being the sentimental type, I really don't have anything to add to all this nostalgia and retrospection, but will say terrific clarity, colors, textures and glittering reflections in this superb macro, Tara.
