Well...maybe this one is a bit weird, even for me - lol. My other idea for a title was "The Torch Singer". Found this fractal "face" while messing around with the "Chai" formula (don't remember who wrote it - I'm at work right now) and it gave me an excuse to figure out how to make a "passable I guess" undulating piano keyboard ala Joe Presley's XD ones to, along with the background "flames" reinforce the "hot jazz" or "smokin' blues" vibe. Been working on this for 4 days straight
Anyhow - what do y'all think about the color scheme? I've gotten a set of pro acrylic paints and a few canvases to try my hand and so have been immersing myself in a lot of boldly colored art and kinda went for that on this one. Still not sure but maybe it's ok?
Thanks for stopping in to see "Billie" :-)
Rick
EDIT - 3-2-08 - Woohoo! Just checked the list of winners in the '08 MOCA digi-art contest and seems this bluesy lady got herself an Honorable Mention! Too cool!
***(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available in limited edition on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall! Unique, "one-of-a-kind" (edition size = 1) prints are also available*** :-)

Nice work!

Excellent work and great colors. One remark, 'Lady sings the blues' isn't connected to Ella, nor Aretha, but to Billie Holiday.

Move over, Picasso! Rick, this is incredible. I love the colors, I love the twisting keyboard, the eyelashes (nice touch, the pearls. Everything adds up to more than the sum of the parts :)

Impresssive - very fluid (as you would expect from a true jazz singer)!

excellent fractal artwork. bravo!

My first thought was Billie Holiday...Superb work Rykk. Everything about the piece really fits the title.

I love it. Truely getting to the fractal-as-artist's-brush level. Although I can see the hot nightclub feel, I would have probably used more blues, in honor of the cool jazz and blues era, which is my favorite.

A fantastic image which captures to essence of the torch singing era. This image could easily be a poster from that era in Jazz or a cover for an appropriate sheet music book. Bravo!
