Description

Hi-- thanks for looking in again. I was reviewing my gallery here and was suprised to find that I had not posted "Homeworld." The image is alomst a year old and when I looked at it I saw a lot of things with the materials and lighting that could be improved. So here is the 2008 rework of 'Homeworld.' You can see the original at my DAZ gallery. I reworked the skin with the new "Vanessa" texture from DAZ and made some changes to the Sylphiad hair using pendragons materials shaders. I tweaked the materials on the clothing as well. I also added an area light from SLP by Dreamlight for the reflected planet glow, rendered an ambient pass with pendragon's area light and seperate passes for the sunlight, console lights, rim light and the reflection of the planet in the window. These were all compositied in Photoshop CS2 and some level, hue and exposure adjustments finished out the project. Prduction credits: Planet created and rendered in POV|Ray Camera and 'grab bars' modeled in Hexagon 2 All else rendered in DAZ|Studio and composited in Photoshp CS3 Victoria 4 with 'Helena' morphs and 'Vanessa' textures, 'Rogue' outfit and 'Sylphiad' hair all available at DAZ. 'Sci-Fi Construction Kit' and 'Sci-fi Crates and Containers' also from DAZ (additional textures by yours truely). 'Studio Light Pro' lights by Dreamilight, you guessed it, available from DAZ. Hope you enjoy it. As always constructive criticism is appreciated and many thanks to those who have taken the time to comment on my work. I do appreciate all of it.

Great work. you are on a roll lately. The lighting and POV are fantastic. The camera looks a tad fake but I sure as heck couldn't have modeled it better. :)

I love eye candy. Great work getting the planet's reflection without over powering the ships interior lights. The only thing I can see to maybe try would be some more detail texturing to the outer hull around the window. But I could also see where that could detract from the focal point of the image and possibly ruin the dof too. All that being said, wonderful image! I'm glad you decided to post it.

I will have a look at the original at DAZs, but this one looks great! As said before, I love the way you "construct" your pictures!

Very nicely composed, and a clever trick to let us see the view and her reaction simultaneously. Nice hair too!

beautiful work, and fantastic lighting, I love how the shadow covers half her face, yet it is still very easy to see her eyes, great work.

This is a seriously wonderful piece of work. Everything from the posing (she really does look like she's floating), to her expression, lighting and reflection, all work together to make an altogether engaging image.

I fave'd this, but hadn't commented. I really like this piece - from the concept down to the details. Her expression and losing the grip on the camera convey the sense of being overwhelmed by the beauty. The lighting (direct and ambient) is great in this and the planet reflection is perfect. You've also made me want to yank our Rogue and play with it more :D
