Description

Original idea by M. C. Escher, a Dutch graphic artist. He is famous for his "impossible objects and impossible reality". One of the most famous impossible objects is the "Tribar", also known as Penrose triangle. It appears to be a solid object, made of three straight beams of square cross-section which meet pairwise at right angles at the vertices of the triangle they form. This photo is the proof that this object is possible, isn't it? Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Very well done. A very skilled recreation of the Reutersvärd-triangle. A small historical correction though: M.C. Escher made a very creative use of this optical illusion in "Waterval" (1961) but it was not his original idee. Swedish Oscar Reutersvärd was the first who published this shape in 1931. This didn't caught much attention until it reappaered in 1958 in a book about optical illusions by L.S. and R. Penrose. Credits where credits belong.

Excellent image. Excellent not only for the skill in realising such an image , but excellent in the sense than shows how digital art can be done also with a fine mind and I think this is of the utmost importance for a digital community as Renderosity. Understanding issues related to perception and perspective are basilar for the understanding of 3D space and comments can be even cultural, with this image we are starting to speak of Esher and Reutersvärd-triangle. I wish sincerely that this work will be inspiring for many artists; and that a real discussion on digital art can start, to me this one is the best image of the year.
