Description

For the record I should note that I find the following things to be contemptible: Slavery, sex-slavery, forced prostitution, people trafficking, sexual exploitation, speculative investment capitalism, modern stock markets, the modern "Joint-Stock Corporation". That said, the beauty of science fiction is that you can always play the "What If?" game. In this case, what if we took the horrors of slavery, added the vocabulary of modern capitalism, and then added an undercurrent of liberation through self-exploitation (the same way some native tribes in North America have been able to make a living by opening casinos and playing off the white man's greed). In the context of the Star Trek universe, I also thought it would be humourous to think about the ways the Ferengi (a species who promote profits more than morals) would attempt to break through the cultural barrier in their interactions with humans. In this case, here's an attempt at creating an academic/financial journal that could be sold to both Humans and Ferengi alike (in their minds at least). In terms of the image itself there are a few things I'm not happy with (blurry eye brows, the colour scheme of the set), but all in all it came out alright. I'd like to thank HollywoodBest for letting me try out the "Anima Suit" outfit for this one, it's a fun little piece. Finally, I'd like to thank those who helped to put me up on the Art Chart this week, I definitely appreciate the support. [Comments Are Always Welcome]

Hilarious, I love it. I'm not particular on the near-flourescent green on this one but it's not a dealbreaker. Sold!

I'm with Giolon about the shade of green. I think something a bit more subtle would work better, although who's to say that certain shades of green aren't considered more desirable to the races who lust after Orion women. This lust (or market demand) is something that could easily be manipulated. Combined with Orion heritage, knowledge of Ferengi politics and economy and having other means to manipulate the Ferengi - the way to a Ferengi's heart is through his ears (or his ego), after all - any Ferengi of reputation can be taken down with little effort if you know the enemy and have the right person to do the job. That's not to say that the Ferengi aren't intelligent; far from it. Despite their demeanor and some of the things they've been known to do, they are successful for a reason. It's not a fluke. Never underestimate the Ferengi or betray them if you can't afford to lose a potential ally. There are ways to take advantage of any adversary, the Ferengi being no exception. Just make sure it's a wise decision to do so. While economics is one of their strong suits (as well as a downfall), they have fairly advanced technology, on par with Starfleet and other members of the Federation. What they don't have themselves, they can probably get.

Nicely done! Your graphic designs add a lot to just a stand-alone image because now it becomes a story and I like that. I'd love to see a MasterCard type ad this way!

This is a latinum brick! Great write up. The girl looks good (maybe needs to be shade of OD green - but no big deal). Great choice of font and the Ferengi symbol at the ends sets it off.

Nice fiscal report, complete with hanging indents! :P I like the green, blue and orange tones- I dont think her skin is too bright, I would imagine that they come in all storts of green shades. Well thought out and a cool presentation!

The Orion slave girls are very dangerous and as far as I remember the Orion men are the true slaves. Do you remember the episode of Enterprise, when Captain Archer got 3 Orion slaves as present ;-) Fantastic artwork, lovely distinguished Star Trek creation!
