Description

In Memoriam This is to remember the tree... my tree. I don't know when I saw him the first time. One day I saw him standing in the meadow, went to him, and he started talking to me. I went to him when I was sad, or glad, I talked to him, simply sat beneath him and listened to the wind and the singing of the birds that got shelter there. I took photos of him so many times, during all seasons of the year. I even went to him with some of my models when I looked for a good location. Then, one afternoon in January last year, he was killed. It was January 18th, I will never forget that date. A cruel monster came and made an end to his life. He tried to resist, but he couldn't. The monster was the hurricane Kyrill, that brought death to more than 25 million of his brothers and sisters only in North-Rhine-Westfalia, and to more than 60 million in Europe. It's now exactly one year ago that he died... that he was murdered. The hurricane cannot be sentenced... he's gone... blown away. What remains is grief. It is time to remember.... Farewell, my good friend. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

I think we've all had our favourite tree at one time...to take the time you have spent to remember one is something we all should do....be it a tree or other living thing....well done!

Great photomontage! Poor you, poor tree. Perhaps you've planted a sapling in it's place?

If your picture(s) were intended to illicit feelings in people, you succeeded quite well! The images are beautiful but after reading your comments, it's sad! Your collage captured all the seasons and it seems like all the times of day just perfectly! I had a very old mesquite tree behind my house. When the sun set and the light came threw it, it was beautiful. The birds loved it, and the mesquite always knows when the season will change. And there was usually a couple of dead chunks for the BBQ grill. Unfortunately, THEY cut it down to make room for new houses!

It is awsome that you went back to photograph the tree in all seasons. I have tried to do that a few times, but do not have the patients :) Great execution
