Description
Recently I read about an interesiting topic, what will remain of mankind if we disappear tommorow, i.e. an unstopable disease spreading all over the world and leaving not a single human alive...
How will earth extinguish the tracks we left?
The following facts refer to that article:
100 years:
After one hundred years, the life of us will be still easy to reconstruct, but there will be no clues about the human language and knowledge, except inscriptions in stones for books, CDs, harddisks and all other kind of media can't survive this time without maintenance. The first buildings to collaps are skyscrapers with steel construction which can't keep standing without permament makeover.
1000 years
Nature would have reconquered the world, most buildings, whatever made of (Steel, concrete..) will be gone, only massive constructions out of natural stones like big cathedral or i.e. the Colloseum in Rome will stay relatively intact for some thousand years until they also decay due to the influence of weather. All kind of plastics vanish within a few hundred years.
100.000 years
There will be only few hints on humanity left at this time, some few glassobjects might survive this period, also medical implants made of Titan.
The very last man build building still standing is the great Pyramid of Gizeh, the dry and conserving climate preserves it for quite a long time.
Even all nuclear reactors will at this time be already collapsed and the radiation will not be detectable anymore.
1 Billion years
All chances to prove evidence of intelligent life on planet earth are now gone for a long time, earth's crust has melted several times an formed new continents, but there will be still ONE evidence left: The lunar rover and other remains of the moon-missions, which are totally preserved in the vakuum on our moon. The Pioneer and Voyager probes might still be on their way through space, but a concluding a link to our solarsystem will be impossible for the sun has turned four times around the galactic centre and no constellations would be the same again....
Unfortunately I had to reduce the resolution of the single images. All made in Bryce 5.5 with little postwork in PS and PPX3. The lunar rover is modeled in Bryce.
Errr... and sorry for the depressiv topic ;)

Very well thought-out topic with your word description. Excellent frame-by-frame view documenting each event. I especially like the creativity between the first and second frames.

We watched a television documentary last night called 'Life After People'. Your posted images pretty much echoe what was shown in this program. (it's rather humbling to realize how quickly physical proof of our existence would vanish from the earth were humans to disappear.)

Very beautiful and very interesting image!
