Description

Objects: 9901 Vertices: 3,733,716 Faces: 4,683,070 Okay, this is the big huge project I've been working on, on and off, for the past few months. As you can see, it's nowhere near finished, but it's definitley taking shape. The Thunderhawk gunship is the Imperium's equivalent of a HIND helicopter. Heavily armed, heavily armoured, and capable of carrying numbers of troops into the firefight, before supporting them with its own weapons. As with any fictional vehicle, especially one that has been around as long as the Thunderhawk, designs have been subtly (and less subtly) altered over the years, small design changes have crept in, sometimes major redesigns have changed the overall look of the vehicle completely. In the Warhammer 40,000 Universe though, every individual world tailors its armed forces to fight in the climate and environments present on that world, resulting in hundreds of variants on a theme, with vehicles from one planet being sometimes vastly different to the same vehicles on its neighbouring planet. With this in mind, this has allowed me to mix and match the features I find most appealing through the various versions of Thunderhawks that have been shown, along with a healthy load of my own personal flights of fancy. This vehicle, while based heavily on something, is fundamentally different from anything you'd find anywhere else, and I suppose that's down to the artist's interpretation. I've been working on the project for the past few months, always in great secrecy, terrified (if I'm honest) that someone else will see what I'm doing and take off to design their own thunderhawk. While I spose that might have been a little immature of me, I've not wanted to expose all my hard work until it was ready. However, a change in my personal circumstances means there's a chance I might actually not get the thunderhawk finished, at least not finished to the point where I'm happy with it, so while I intend to continue working on it, here is the work in progress for you to look at and see what you think. This is my magnum opus folks, the only other thing that comes close for hours invested, is the drum kit which you can see in various incarnations elsewhere in my gallery. See what you think - I hope you like it!
