Description
As well as 3D work, another one of my artistic hobbies is Photography.
I've recently received a new (to me, not new off the shelf) camera as a gift from a friend, to use while I save up for a super sparkly one of my own.
Sitting about, I figured I'd have a go at creating a 3d model of an unspecified camera, using parts of mine as a rough guide. Well this lense is less of a rough guide and more of a photorealistic (at least in modelled detail - textures and glass need a bit of work) representation of the kit lens that came with the camera.
See what you think, it's a WIP so you should see better versions soon!

It's really nice (translation - it's a lot better than I could have done...) A lens can be tough to render due to it's predominately black colour. However, at this stage of the work there's only 2 things that stick out to my eye and those are the zoom grip on the lens seems a little light to me (although if you darken it you obscure all the detail you've added) and 2nd, the highlights on the filter, lens barrel, and aperture ring are too strong. They're fine on the standing lens but on the lens on it's side they stand out too much (at least compared to the lenses I have).

I'm going to have to work on a different lens - I sold this one a while back. I think I got £30 for it :P.
