Description

[best viewed full sized] Having not been out with my camera for a while to gather new material, mainly because of the bad weather, I've been looking through some of my files and found this one taken last October whilst visiting York. It is the ceiling of the Chapter House of York Minster Cathedral. The Chapter House is where the day to day running of the Minster traditionally takes place, and this ceiling dates back to around 1275. Unlike the chapter houses of other cathedrals this one has no central column supporting the ceiling vault, and so is free standing. To be able to get as much of the structure in the shot as possible I placed the camera flat on the floor and took a series of shots with the timer on. Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are more than welcome!

Amazing architecture, and a beautiful shot. The first thing I thought of when I saw it was a kaleidoscope, but this is much more interesting.

What a gorgeous shot, Carl! I haven't been to York Minster for years, but it is indeed beautiful. (Did you also visit the Rowntree's chocolate factory around the back? I know I did!)

Simply stunning Carl!! The symmetry is fantastic and the colours and lighting create a wonderful image which I find myself mesmerised by!! This has a very therapeutic feel to it and I agree with Dennis (Cosine) that this does look similar to a kaleidoscope, only much more interesting and appealing! A great capture and wonderful POV. Hugs babe xox

An almost kaleidoscopic shot, a very very nice one to say the least, I have yet to visit the cathedral at York, must put it on my itinary for when I'm up in that neck of the woods. Excellent capture Carl, a lovely warm feel to it as well. Congratulations on being in LWITG as well, well deserved. Bravo!!!!!
