Lovely birds aren't they! They rely mainly on food put out by people, so you could keep them coming! Well done on not having a drag!!

Better than your last one. Nice and sharp, and the background here works very well with their light color. Great work Mick!

Excellent capture, Mick. I always have too many tree limbs in the way to get a good shot. "MrsLubner" suggested to me that this might be a ring-necked rather than a collared dove. I checked my bird books closely and still suspect it is a collared dove, but you might want to check your own resources where you are to see if it really is a collared variety. I like the color variation provided by the reddish branches.

Aren't they just lovely and soft Mick, I used to have a pair visit me in my previous garden and they became quite tame, just sitting there on the bird table as I scatterd seed for them. I miss those birds as I do my previous home, but thank you so much for sharing your doves with us today. Hugs Jane xx

Even some of the experts have problems identifying them Mick. Either of the species is a good capture, especially if its in your own back yard. Keep up with the nonsmoking, we're all with you. Weekend will be hard just persevere, you can do it. Bravo!!!!! http://www.dovepage.com/species/domestic/Ringneck/ringneckdove.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/wildfacts/factfiles/251.shtml

Someone once told me (but don't hold me to it...) that the bluer the beak and better the chance they are males. These have much more gray on them then the ringnecks I have in my yard. Beautiful study of these birds and well captured.
