Description

From the moment I stepped through the doors I was automatically drawn here. The scent of aged and worn pages rise like an exotic perfume that entices one to take a journey in a time that once was. A child's early reader, stories of humble beginnings, ledgers of birth, marriage, deaths. One cannot help but imagine a "friend" sitting at the table their face warmed by the sunlight streaming through the southernly window keeping detailed accounts of the life that passes through the doors. Here is a little corner of the world that while is the heartbeat of this peaceful place is at the same time its own wonderful world of solitude. A solitude of its own nature. As I stand here fingering the books I think, how wise it was to make this the "secretary" of building. Facing the south the sun provides warmth and light. Every nook and crannie is made us of. In the triangular shelf is a small antique kerosene lamp, nothing goes to waste and everything has a place. I am a lover of books, especially old books. So its no wonder to me that this is my favorite photo inside the Meeting House. I thank you everyone for all of your comments and for letting me share my journey with you. ~Michelle~ PS...While the benches I previously posted are upright and look to be uncomfortable, in reality they aren't. They are quite comfortable and cushions and quilts and lap blankets are neatly stacked in a corner for additional comfort.

Wow Michelle.. Your prose puts the photo to shame. Very cool room. Perfect for me as I hate waxing floors and polishing furniture. And speaking of waxing, I love that you like to wax nostalgic.. but honestly, today is really a much simpler time to live than it has ever been. I'm betting if you lived 150 years ago for say 2 years, this age would start looking pretty darn teriffic. I just put gas in my car and go, fast and in comfort. You really like cleaning and maintenence of a horse? Churning butter? Taking all day to prep a meal? Kill your own livestock? My clock breaks.. $12 and I have a new one. The world of information and entertainment is just a few clicks away. I can cross this country in 5 hours while watching TV. How many pioneers and cross country settlers would have liked to trade places with me? Anyway, I agree History can be romantic as long as memory is very selective. Great writup again Sweets. Hugs and kisses from Dave :^)
