Description
In The Gutter
Yesterday it snowed
And everyone was all agog
Calling their friends, talking about it
Playing in it, enjoying the novelty
Today we’re cleaning up the mess
Trying to get to work
Driving on icy streets
We’re such wimps in the snow
Today I had to clean the gutters
They were completely plugged up
So I got out my trusty ladders
And got to work
I got out the hose
And started to unplug
That downspout
That was full of junk
Course then the hose kinks up
And I have to take care of that
And back up on the ladder
To blast that junk out
The second one’s gonna make me
Work a whole lot harder
It’s full of rotten apples
Leaves, dirt, who knows what else
And the hose kinks up again
And I have to take care of that
And I blast that hose
And it blasts me back
It’s raining now, sleeting, hailing
And even a bit more snow
But dang it I’m gonna get this done
And I do-- soaking wet and freezing
But my gutters are FREE!!!

This is a fantastic, descriptive account...yeah, okay...it's something I wouldn't do, but I'm from Chicago and us Chicagoans HATE cleaning gutters. When it snows, we just use it as an excuse to stay indoors, watching something on TV. AH...but your account brings back memories, though yeah...cleaning gutters in snow...that's hard-core! VERY good post! I love it!

You are one tough and determined soul, Marilyn! You don't let the elements get you down...you laugh at it, daring the storms and temperatures to get even worse! But at least you can now get your mind out of the gutter, especially with that kinky hose. LOL. Incidentally, I'm a little surprised that the freezing temperatures didn't cause the hose to snap and break. Rubber usually does when it gets that cold. The running water probably prevented that from occurring.
