Description

I like to make my own soups, broths and curries, this is my version of Pea & Ham soup. I can tell you with a slice of fresh bread it went down a treat twenty minutes ago. Just what the doctor ordered for a cold chilly January day. A small gammon and a couple of packets of dried peas, I can get about ten meals out of it, and all it takes is a sharp knife to cut the gammon and water to soak the peas, Magic! Thanks for stopping by for a look see, and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you where ever you are. Snow forcast for us this week at the foot of the Pennines.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. I love pea soup. This looks delicious! (Okay - I'll admit I don't care much for pork, but I'm imagining it with no meat and perhaps an onion instead.) :) Thanks for this nice warm-up! It's breakfast time here. Maybe I'll get some oatmeal. You've got me hankerin' for hot food, my friend!

Yumm Jeff .. I love ham and pea soup. I should make some this weekend; I havent made that in years probably. We gave Bud the ham bone from last weekend though; he was such a good boy, a milk bone seemed not good enough for him at the time. lol

Great winter treat Jeff for those blowy windy days, nice mat underneath! I like Pea & Ham, I like mushy peas but goodness me! they don't like me and anyone in the vicinity wouldn't be too happy around me either lol.

The only thing I have foudn that comes close to split pea and ham soup in the winter is a stout beef and barley soup but I do prefer the thickness of split pea and ham best. This looks mighty good and I think I will have to check the freezer for some salt pork or jowls and fix a pot myself this weekend!
