Description

Somebody in ExtraSolar Developments once thought that this was a good idea for a ship that would operate for extended periods of time. The sections were all modules that were already mass-produced, and it was hoped that this would make for an inexpensive ship that would be popular with people who wished to see where they were going. The problem was that this wasn't a complete ring, so anyone who wished to visit any other module had to go all the way to the core, then back out. Not good planning. Fortunately, this never got past a single prototype. Today the prototype sits in a growing depot of ships and equipment that no longer is usefull, but might someday be worth the effort of recycling for a better use. ------------ This was modeled in Bryce, with the idea of trying out something to see if it could be a useful ship design. It didn't take me too long to realize that it had alot of problems. Background and planet are all constructed in Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look!

Nice textures, but that does look like a pain to navigate! Cool integration into the story line!

I like this ship design, flaws and all...it reminds me of the Alexei Leonov in the movie 2010...nobody ever points out that a vessel of that particular design is very good at inducing nausea. Ah...but it looked good on screen. The same with this vessel. I love the texture of the hull...it makes me think of foamed metal, which is something infinitely useful in starship design, as you're able to make modules and rooms virtually anywhere...and it's durable and light! This is a great render with a fantastic text to accompany it. :-)

I guess even spaceships finally end up in the graveyard. You can really appreciate the detail in your models in full-size view.

Great storyline and render...I can relate to the frustration of seeing a ship design fall short of it's potential...even so this is a cool looking ship!

You sure have put an extraordinary amount of work into the modeling of that ship and it deserves much praise.

Actually, I think it is a useful design exactly for what you see as a shortcoming...distance between modules. Perfect for transporting people or cargo (animals, hazardous stuff, etc) that don't like to or shouldn't intermingle easily or at all. Perhaps all going to different destinations as well. Cool render with lots of fine detail~

Very nice construction and lighting. I like the background too. Bryce is a great artists tool, but a bit of artistry in photoshop can make it special!

The model looks very well. In any way there could be a little bit rusty on it. It's a shame that things which are modeled in Bryce cannot be exportet as objects. You've done a really good job.
