Description

Our daughter, Emily, was born in Korea. One of thousands of "G.I. Babies," she was starving and literally left on the steps of an orphanage. She was estimated to be two weeks old. My first wife, Oma, and I adopted her at a time when mixed race adoptions were very much frowned upon by most State social services. She was assigned to us at about three months of age, but due to a serious illness we did not get to hold her in our arms until she was nine months old. When Emily was seven or eight years old, she asked Oma to write a poem about her. This is the result and is the complete poem except for last line which I deemed did not work here, since it referred to Oma being her mother. I suppose if I was being accurate, it would be a seven or eight year old girl instead of a teenager, but Amy Moo's "Amy" morphs for A3 look quite a bit like her face. I guess my thought about this render was to show the fulfilling of the line about changing from child to woman. The lines, though, which actually inspired this render were "Black hair flying/Against the winds of [her] energy." Emily and her brother got very interested in karate and both achieved the rank of black belt. She was the first female to attain that rank in her Dojo and was sixteen at the time. Hard to believe that she will be turning forty this year. The time goes by so unbelievably fast. Hope you enjoyed both the poem and the render. I certainly enjoyed creating it. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Comments are always appreciated. Jeremy ___________________________________ CREDITS: Bryce 6.1, Poser 6, PostShipPro 5. I was doing a search when I found this...and read it and was so moved...for such wonderful people to adopt (when I was a little girl I had a dream of adopting a BUNCH of little Korean children...there were so many at the time..) I never got a daughter... but am so happy to share your joy and your feelings and your art! Thank you!
