Description

On June 13, 1942 the carrier Enterprise and heavy cruisers: Northampton and Pensacola return to Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii. Lt. Robert Kirk in his F4F Wildcat returns “home” after a costly, the loss of Torpedo Squadron 8 from Hornet and a sister ship the CV-5 Yorktown, but vital victory in the early months of WWII in the Pacific. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. Exceptional work ! Let's not forget the outstanding tactical work done by Rear Admiral Ray Spruance and the tireless, unceasing efforts put forth by the codebreakers of naval Intelligence, without whose labor the entire course of the war in the Pacific might have been very different.
