Phytophthora ramorum, a fungus responsible for sudden oak death syndrome terrorizing Northern California. The graphic shape in this image resembling a gothic nose does reinforce the perception of impending doom.

Oh no, the entrance to the Temple of Doom! Terrific clarity and dark and light texture configurations in this fine capture! Kind of looks like the face of a mandrill ape.
