Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I like the genre you have placed this one into, Marilyn. Perfect for it. We had huge shovels here in the East a few years ago which were used for mining operations. They were the size of a small office building and literally 'walked' from place to place. They were called 'walkers' in fact.

This is an excellent shot and love the texture and abstract look to it too. I also love your very creative intro dear Marilyn - forgive my lack of comment I am looking though so I am still here and enjoying your fabulous diverse and creative gallery - hugs Jane xx

A very graphic description Marilyn sounds like it might be one like I used to drive, building motorways, but most of mine had tracks not wheels. This sounds like it might be a shovel that bends in the middle? Not sure of this though. Excellent capture beautiful texture. Bravo!!!!!

Hahahaha, I loved the story behind the shot. From the thumbnail, I thought it was part of the Chinese New Year Dragon.....Guess I was wrong. Love the shadows and textures too. Aloha Glad you got to see Mauna Kea on your flight before...

Beautifully written and I LOVE the image that goes with it. What's so funny about this is you've taken something so utterly familiar and turned it into something else just by shifting viewpoint...just a wee little bit! Fantastic! I love that, and the image itself has a wonderfully surreal quality. The blue tint gives it the appearance of snow OR sand! I like that ambiguity, and of course the color in general intrigues the science fiction writer in me. I just thought: "Oh so that's how sand would look on a planet circling a B-Type star!" Sometimes I wonder about me.
