A recurring character from the Twilight Blades, a D&D Forgotten Realms campaign set in Aglarond. “The eagle swooped down and landed upon Xanna’s out stretched arm, its talons gripping her stout leather sleeve. “Have you seen stranger on the mountain?” Xanna asked, as if expecting an answer. The bird cocked its head, as if considering the question, then squawked and screeched in a long series. Xanna nodded, and then flung her arm upward, launching the eagle back into the air. With several flaps of its mighty wings, it climbed into the thermal currents, and soared majestically through the sky again. “You are fortunate that few travel in these mountains,” Xanna announced, turning toward them, her voice carrying the lilting accent of the Shou. “To an eagle, you are only ‘not food’, and therefore of little interest. But he saw the ones you seek. They are several hours ahead.” “It understood you?” Cosar asked, in honest surprise, eyeing the golden skinned beauty with new respect, “and you can understand it?” “Often better then I understand the actions of men!” Xanna snapped back harshly. “Will you help us?” Courynn ask respectfully, knowing that they had little chance with out her aid. “I want nothing to do with the ways of men, and your petty struggles,” she replied coldly. “But I will not have your evil spread here either! I will help you catch these others… and then you will all leave my mountains!”” A mountain spirit folk, driven across the Endless Wastes to Thesk with other Shou refugees from the Tuigan Horde, Xanna wandered south into Aglarond and settled in the south western foot hills of the nearly uninhabited, and in most opinions uninhabitable, Tannath Mountains. Almost a hermit, she seldom ventures out of her adopted home, and is not always hospitable to those who venture into the rugged wildness. A nearly ageless, exotic beauty, Xanna seldom misses the company of other humanoids, and has little care for the goings on around her beloved mountains… so long as those plots do not spoil their pristine beauty. Xanna has been both friend and foe to the Twilight Blades. Once sheltering them from violent blizzard and leading them safely out of the mountains, but nearly driving them back into the Yuirwood on another occasion. Only when her beloved home was under threat, has she truly fought beside them. Another of the Non-Player-Characters from my third pass through the Twilight Blades.
