Description

is a MU video of many artists here on RR and one that is not but he super . the whole video is super check out MagikUnicorn gallery too he do wonderful art This is a bigger shot of the Atchabalaya Basin. It over 400,000 square miles big I think. It big but this little slice of the life and way people come here and party and fish when they have time off. This is a very small part here. I do not know why it came out like what you see. Look like blocks of shapes put together but I posting it to show how the lifeboat camp and other camps is line up. The cyprees house camp is just out the photo on the left side. All have to be reach by boat. Lot of native Indians use to live out here but they life stye was cut as the hurrcane in 1957 came ashore {Audrey]. I heard they lived out here and was not told about the storm comeing. Had no radio and no time for the elders of the tride to go and warn them[plus they did not think it be that bad; they weather out hurrcanes before] Many 100's could not be find after the storm so if you look at the recorde and see 500 plus people that die; add many 100's that could not be accorded for that lived out here in the Atchabalaya Basin. They die too but the bodies was never find. thanks for looking and commenting

This is great scene for putting it all into perspective. Sad story about the people, though. It probably seemed to them a really good area to live in, too. It's nice to be able to put it all on the map, too-- understanding the area at least a little more clearly.

I know you keep saying you can't spell and that Jocko, but your narrative with each picture is interesting and informative, I wish a whole lot more people did what you do. I love the way you most times add a bit more as a comment as you read other comments and things come back to you, fantastic. I have to agree with those before me Jocko, a great pov, showing us the wider picture, a totally different life style. Bravo!!!!!

I totally agree with JeffG7BRJ on your comments. Half of your postings are your comments. I love reading about the history of your images, or how you arrived at them, or what you saw there .. you've the very best comments. And quite frankly, I could care how you spell what you write, as long as I can read it! Cool shot, I like seeing how it looks all together. Gives me an idea what this part of the Basin looks like.

A wonderful shot Jock. I like your historic narrative about this place and this picture (just like many others you have posted in the past) truly reflects Louisiana being known as a sportmens paradise, Sig...

I like how this came out. It looks like a watercolor. Another interesting history lesson makes me want to visit Louisiana for the food, music and the swamp.

There is such realism in your photography. I used to work ships and barges in your area on the river and you show it like it really is (and I can imagine how it used to be). thanx for ur comments on the history also. ;-)

Stellar shot of Atchabalaya Basin, Jock, with the mini-houseboats floating about. Actually, this kinda looks like a flooded river right after a storm.

The low angle shot, makes you feel like you are there ! I guess the missing bodies were eaten by Gator's and fish ? Interesting "lay" capture ! ~Cheers~
