Description

A return to space for this one, today. You are on the surface of one of Jupiter's moons witnessing the comet Schumacher-Levy 9 flying over-head and ultimately impacting on Jupiter's surface a few years ago. Enjoy and thanks, as always, for viewing and commenting... Bryce Resized, sharpened and sig. with Paint.Net Tomorrow, another render from Wolf Creek... A wonder picture Keith. Impact or not there is peace inherent in this lovely image!

Oooh, I remember when this happened! There was quite a hubaloo over it and with good reason, impact events are pretty awesome...and this lives up to that in so many ways. I agree with e-brink, there is a sense of calm inherent in this image, but part of that could just be from the grandeur of space itself! This is a great image.

Is it Titan? There's plenty of moons to choose from! I love the light coming over the horizon But then I'm a Sci-Fi lover and Sci -Fi where Jupiter is concerned is pretty much reality now with the probes.

Titan is of course near Saturn.. so it can't be that moon (besides with the clouds there one would not see a thing :) It is sad that we were not there to see it.. It must have been a great event.. Much light.. no sound

Really great image. I like the way the rays of light come out, and also it has kind of a smokey feel to it in that area. And great terrains! Thanks!

Actually, since this is so close-in a view, we are viewing it from the moon, Io. There have been 63 moons circling Jupiter already discovered. Altho, some may only be the size of small asteroids.

Whoa. That is rather trippy. Great work. BTW, Keith, in the material editor, there is an upside-down triangle near the mixers with a submenu for lighting models. Ones that give interesting results for planets are: Fuzzy, Additive, and Distance Blur. You can get some surreal and dreamlike effects.

Wow, the pearlescent colors are just astounding; I also remember when this comet was around. It was one of the most awesome events and I would go outside every night just to look, couldn't get enough of it!! This is wonderful!!
