Description

To try and capture the full eclipse I put my D200 in Bulb mode and shot at exposures of about 5 seconds. I was initially frustrated at how the pictures kept coming out fuzzy, until I looked at them in sequence and realized my exposures were long enough for the moon to move across the screen. It helped that the moon didn't completely go black, it was lit partly by "earth shine," light coming from the Earth, and also by light refracted by dust in the atmosphere. While today such a display is a curiosity, I can imagine the effect it had on people in primitive times.

Well done. I think my exposure was a little too long too. Maybe that is why I couldn't get the moonscape well. Great job. Aloha

Wonderful capture. It's funny that you said "I can imagine the effect it had on people in primitive times. " Because my boyfriend and I were also talking about that sort of thing last night and what egyptions and such would have thought about it. Thanks for sharing.

Very well done considering your subject wouldn't hold still! I didn't even try to shoot it - we had minus 14 degrees out here. Thank you for uploading this.

I think a lot of us learned how hard it is to get good lunar eclipe photos last night. I certainly did. Great shot.
