Description
As I grow stronger,
Be an active me, involved, happy,
I rise each day and continue on,
Enjoy the raindrops quivering on the leaves outside,
Stretch my hands out to the warmth of the sun,
Hold my child with all the joy in the world,
Drink thirstily at the scents of the space around me,
I live and breath life itself...
Yet perpetually I wait,
For the helpful hand of death.
The pain from the past, indelible,
Eats at my very body and soul,
Despite my gentle efforts
to lay it to rest.
It erodes the fibre of who I am,
Of who I want to be,
Silently abrasive like desert sands,
It steals my shape, deletes my form.
And I secretly wait for the friendly end.
These two versions of me,
cannot hold hands
cannot agree
cannot abide
yet they somehow must,
because summed,
they are the truth of my story.
Neither can be erased
without the other being harmed.
If only I knew the recipe,
the correct formula of combination.
Perhaps then I would find living peace.

"I rise each day and continue on, Enjoy the raindrops quivering on the leaves outside, Stretch my hands out to the warmth of the sun, Hold my child with all the joy in the world, Drink thirstily at the scents of the space around me, I live and breath life itself..." .... SUPERB written piece!! .... The above sounds, to ME, like the Philosophy Of Life that would afford you and everyone the best life experiences. ENJOY. Or, in the words of the famous, Negro League Pitcher, Satchel Paige, who pitched well into his 50's, "DON'T LOOK BACK, SOMETHIN' MAY BE GAININ' ON YA'". My BEST to you and yours, T.P.

There was a day, when I was eager to offer advice to others. Actually, in that day I believed I possessed the knowledge they sought, held their answers inside my mind, yet, not my own, in doing so as you, I searched. Yet, today, I know different, the answers I hold are for no one but me. Maybe, the same is true for you, I don't know, but you might. Thanks for sharing, my best to you and yours.

Very powerful and moving. Maybe time will give you the formula, time has a habbit of doing this at the most unexpected moments...

I can well relate to this tense dichotomy ... I wrote [in a poem not yet posted called CONNECTIONS] The one who weeps plaits hair With the laughing one - Tristan und Isolde twinned connected ... a different context of course but the same [vain] need to re-integrate and make whole. Written with deep but controlled emotion and much to commend it. Bravo! Mike

The "peace which passeth all understanding"...there is such a peace...but few are willing to receive it.
