Description

This shot of the eclipse shows the moon leaving the earth's shadow. I find it interesting that the upper right edge was the last to go into the shadow, but the bottom edge was the first to come out. From here in the northwest US the moon must have passed fairly close to the edge of the shadow, rather than through the middle of it. I was surprised and honored by the number of views and comments on yesterday's eclipse photo, since I was rather disappointed in the quality.

That's awesome! It's amazing to think of the Earth casting a shadow like that. There's something inherently fascinating about the whole thing. No wonder we all run out to look!

Wow, the clarity in this is amazing. I think it proves the moon isn't made of cheese ...looks more like a cantalope to me.

Another excellent documentation Dennis. Just as the eclipse started clouds moved in and obscured the moon and we actually had a thunderstorm during the entire time the eclipse lasted. I don't think I would have attempted to take a picture anyway, but I didn't even get to see it. Thanks for sharing, Sig...
