Description

From Wikipedia "The Peter Iredale was a four-masted steel barque sailing vessel that ran ashore October 25, 1906, on the Oregon coast en route to the Columbia River. It was abandoned on Clatsop Spit near Fort Stevens in Warrenton about four miles (6 km) south of the Columbia River channel. Wreckage is still visible, making it a popular tourist attraction." The winter storms usually uncover what's left of this ship, as they have this year. By summer it will be buried under the sand again. Thanks for stopping by and any comments. A great weekend to all.

so many sunken memories. the subject of lost ships is quite fasinating. can you imagine, someone's life and dream sits incased in hundreds of thousands of pounds of pressure. as you may know as well, a captain carves part of his life into his ship. this shot is really nice. the angle of the the shot compared to the lines of the boat. it just feels right. good job

It looks like the rib cage of the ship! I heard another ship appeared a few weeks ago on the Oregon Coast? Fascinating how it will be covered again with sand, that's a LOT of sand!!!!!! Superbly shot Dennis!!!!!

As the others have already said, this is a great shot. I remember seeing this as a kid but the last few times I've been there to look at it, it was buried in the sand and barely visible. I might have to make a trip to the beach this week to see it.

Fascinating! The POV just screams 'shipwreck". It amazes me that this will be completely covered by summer, even though I can see that you are shooting at low tide. Thanks!
