Description

If you was east bound on I-10 that is going from Lafayette to Batan Rouge You would have seen the area I have takeing these photos of the "Atchabalaya Basin". That long bridge that is 18 miles long spans over the "Atchabalaya Basin". You could have see me in a small flat bottom boat called around here a John boat. May have other names I do not know. This is two photos but it the same area. I had just the limbs of the tree in one and I had the tree in another but not the sinken house boat there in another so I put them together. I did try to cross under I-10 but I could not find a path. They had a barrer of nature stuff in the way. I know they had some oil field stuff I wish to photo . I saw them going west on I-10 and been on them around 1980 and they still there. Maybe another time I get those shots. I had many shots of I-10 but this is the best ones that came out makeing a piano in a moveing boat do not work good at all thanks for looking and comments and votes too

That's great! I looked on the map again. Before I didn't know the basin was that far North. It says I10 is called the Atchafalaya Swamp Freeway there. It's really neat to put the place on the map! Thank you!

Cool capture of the bridge over troubled waters, Jock! With all that debris, this looks like the flood waters after a heavy storm.

That must have been such a fun lake to explore! I'm so fascinated by the cyprus trees that dot the lake.

I've done the drive on I-10 from California to Lousiana before .... some say its a boring drive but not to me I love the wide open spaces all along that interstate especially Texas.. this was a couple years ago so I didn't see you but I sure would have waved if I did..........
