Description

This couple was joined at the hip. Wherever the female Mallard would go, the Wood Duck would follow. It was the sweetest thing. There was a friendly crowd at the river again this morning. I spoke with a few other photographers; they are SO FUN to talk to!!! Anyway, we spotted a Wood Duck in the crowd; and we couldn't help but notice how it followed that Mallard around everywhere it went. A lady next to me stood there with frozen feet, waiting for the Swan lady to make her appearance :) as we stood there chatting away. She just had a pocket camera, but from what I'm learning, little pocket cameras work BEAUTIFULLY too! Right Kimmie? ;) lol Anyway, I'm glad I was able to capture the 'pair' in an open area. I asked the lady "I wonder if Wood Ducks and Mallards mate.... ya think?" She shrugged her shoulders and said "I dont know?" I said "Now that would be kinky...." hoping she wouldn't take offense to my openness. lol Luckily she thought that was funny and busted a gutt. She said nowadays kinky is the IN thing. lol I was so thrilled to have seen a Wood Duck; I dont think I have ever seen one in person before. :) Have a great day!! and thanks for stopping by. Shari

They look a very sweet couple, whether they naturally belong together or not, I wouldn't know, lol. Excellent pic Shari, the one on the left looks hand painted.

Very nice shot . I love the colours. I think maybe he's been drinking all night because his eyes are red. That is why he's following her everywhere.LOL.

I don't think they naturally get together as a rule but they do make a cute couple. Male wood ducks are very handsome fellows.
