Detail pic of the monastery of Chorin, that we took at 29th december 2007.
The monastery of Chorin is situated ca. 80 kilometers north of Berlin in the province Brandenburg. This cloister was founded by zistercienser monks at the beginning at the 13th century. It existed till ca. 1570 and was then ruined.
At the beginning of the 19th century Monastery Chorin was explored new and got new interest by writers, painters and other romantic oriented people at first, later by historians and archeologists till today.
Chorin is part of several art projects in summer like music festivals and classical concerts or exhibitions and other activities.

I absolutely love this one! Such a story and history too. It amazes me, as did my trip to the UK, when you come from a country where the first Dutch settlers only landed in 1652! Well done indeed!
