Description

Continuing to make progress on the new Pirate set. The chains to anchor the cannon are still under progress (adding the bones) but the cannon it's self is looking pretty god. The cannon is a character and can be raised and lowered. The chains will also be characters, all three (cannon and 2 chains) are seperate characters and can be posed independent of each other. This also allows the chans to be usied by them selves for what ever. Rendered in poser 7, no postwork.

Big bang bang, I should have tossed someone in for scale. The whole this is 9 feet long including the base, just the barrel is 8 feet.

I have thought about making an iron cannon but DAZ had one on a Navy truck and no one was interested in Army versions. This seems to have unknown parentage similar to Scottish light houses I have commented about in the past as being too short. We all have our own experiential forms, iconic and low. Desoto was too soon and Edsel was too late. Who in India has any idea what that is all about.

tallpindo I'm not sure where this one comes from, I found a picture of this design on the internet with no indication where the picture had been taken. I did some construction sketches and made a few artistic changes (I almost doubled the number of iron bolts because they look cool) and tada here we go :-) It did come up on a google image search for "ship cannon" :-)

Very detailed and cool cannon Mike, they are looking great and nice to know they are going to be so flexible in your set. This one reminds me so much of the classic style ones on a model I built as a boy. GREAT JOB !
