Description

...a sketch for someone who thought I traced my work. I really enjoyed the Witchblade series and collected the medieval series. I love how Michael Turner depicts his heroines. The original is about 1 1/2 inch in size. This is an 11: x 14".....go figure... hope you like it. Acheieved with simply a fine tipped black pen and colored pencils. The lines are abit crooked, not one of my rested hand days (haha) Forgive my beginners-jitters!

What jittery lines? Looks fine to me, especially the hair, that's always tricky to draw.

You must have great eyesight, Kathleen, to draw this in such a small space. I used to do a lot of calligraphy and illumination ( mostly Celtic ) using proper bladed pens and mapping pens, but these days I use the computer for composition, and the zoom function for all the fine bits. I still need glasses, but only for reading. Now I no longer need them for distance. The joys of growing older...! ;o) Mind you one of my brothers would paint his model soldiers ( wargames miniatures 20mm top to toe ) right down to their brass buttons, sleeve chevrons etc. I would use a mapping pen for the finer bits, since I had less 'shake' than when using a 000 paintbrush. Now I can hardly see the figure, unaided, far less paint it. One of my sons can take a portrait photo, and then draw it in tiny points and lines, so that from a few feet away it actually looks like a black-and-white photo. My grandson, on the other hand, shows no interest in drawing, not even in colouring in, and seems to have great difficulty even forming his letters at school. I have never come across the WITCHBLADE series. I assume it is a comic book / graphic novel. My grandmother, being Irish, used to call a young girl who was perhaps unconventional, or disrespectful, a 'young blade'. I must look it up. Regards, John.
