Description

This is the white eared Catbird so called for it's call which sounds like a cat meowing it is a member of the Bowerbird family. I cant say I have ever seen anything like him before with the green and cream colours and Thrush like breast. Or if it behaves in the usual Bower bird mating rituals of other 19 Ptilonorhynchidae The bowerbirds are confined to the great island of New Guinea and the island continent of Australia, and their immediately adjacent islands. They are medium-sized birds, omnivorous and largely solitary. They are unique in the avian world in that the males build elaborate 'bowers': structures of sticks, grasses or other plant stems on or close to the ground for display and courtship, often incorporating objects such as colourful fruits, flowers, feathers, bones, stones, shells, insect skeletons, and numerous other natural (and human-made) objects. Thanks for looking and if you care to comment

This is a much nicer Bower Bird than the big brownish ones that visit my yard every day..I put out objects for them to take back to their bower..mine love to eat my chillies off the bushes in the garden..and one even mimics a large number of bird calls..amazing birds..I love the look of this one...

A beauty. I have heard about this bird and never seen one. I picture them as much larger! LOL What the imagination can do. But I can really see what they are about with the detail so well presented here.

Lovely bird. We have a catbird here too only ours is grey in color and I would assume he's a member of the thrush family though must admit I don't know for sure. I should look that up. :)
