Description

This Jukebox is the center point of the haunting of Ernestine & Hazel's. It appears to be the conduit through which the spirits that haunt E & H often communicate. The Jukebox will go on at different times, day and night, sometimes even when it's turned off! Occasionally, when there are only a few people in the bar and they're speaking on a particular subject, the jukebox will suddenly start playing a song pertaining to the subject being discussed. Three Jukebox examples, all directly from the owner: 1) A Priest was in the pub that seemed a bit strange; dressed all in black, very unusual. After he left, the owner and the bartender were talking about him and mentioned that he could have come from the movie "The Exorcist". At that moment the jukebox began blasting the Rolling Stone's "Sympathy for the Devil". 2) The owner's granddaughter came in after a long absence and walked through the pub. She asked her grandfather if Patsy Cline had ever been in the pub. Immediately the jukebox began blasting a Patsy Cline song. 3) A Real Estate agent came in with some customers to escape a cab that had a terrible odor. As they were in the pub the agent commented "You can't believe that smell!" - as soon as the words were spoken the jukebox began playing Lynyrd Skynyrd's "That Smell". Also, Karen the bartender routinely finds money left in her tip jar from the old owner, Ernestine. She has seen her spirit in the hallway near the bathroom. Often when her tip jar will be as empty as is the pub, she'll walk away from the bar only to return a short while later to find money in the jar. Believe it or not, but should you ever find yourself at E & H when the jukebox starts playing by itself, as I have, or you walk up those creaky old stairs to the upstairs rooms, you'll probably believe. For a series of links to other posts and stories of Ernestine & Hazel's just start here. Thanks for looking! marshall

Great story there! You certainly captured that "haunted" feel here, or should I say "possessed!" Splendid. ;']
