Description

It is a « chamotté » sandstone which I created myself at a technical meeting of "raku". The technical of the "raku" is a process of cooking. The incandescent parts are smoked out, soaked in water, burned and left with the free air. They undergo an considerable thermal shock. This ashtray was created a few years ago and time marked!!!! And thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload: thumb_1625412.jpg "The burn"

you've caught the sense of an ancient face emerging through time, like a ruin which speaks to us across the abyss. I know raku "wants" rough surfaces (and cracks), and you've managed to make them look like the veins of time. But then you photographed it---and both the lighting and the table's grain give a perfect musical 'counterpoint' to the image. And then, the image's back-side almost looks like a miniature Stonehenge. Mysterious and complex, and looking as if it came to us from the ages...many thanks. Mark
