the problematic nature of discipline uniquely portrayed

This could get nasty! Rules are there to be broken, so your "hit" could be somewhat vicious. Life is adherence, sadly - or maybe not. Rendo has placed one us in good company today. They mean well.

I believe it is teachers who make their students get hooked on the subjects... Rulers, even golden, help them to concentrate on the subject, not love. Still I love your school scene, Ed.

Thanks for the comments... I've always thought the best way to teach is to make the student excited about learning vs. hitting them over the head with rules & knowledge...

There are schools for some people which teach them to be thinkers and leaders, and these schools do excite the student's mind. Unfortunately there are also schools for those who will not be required to think in their future employment (in these cases thinking is actually a disability). These schools need to employ a more authoritarian approach because this is the approach the workplace will use to control the graduating students. Most of the time the parent can tell which approach will be used just by looking at the neighborhood they live in and the type of housing they have. Some of the time there will be nothing a parent will be able to do in order to get better education for their children.
