Description

The Norwegian freighter M/S 'HAVJO' a day out of New York. Wind is 45 kts. sustained with higher gusts. The POV is the same as on the previous upload, except the picture is toward the stern of the ship. I am above the 5-deck super structure, on the flying bridge, which is above the bridge. On calm seas this location is about 45-ft. above the waterline, but here the top of the waves often seem to be level with my eyes. I think this is because the ship is often in the trough. The roar of the ocean, and especially the noise the wind makes is unbelievable. The temperature is relatively mild, because we are in the Gulf Stream that flows diagonally across the North Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico to Northern Europe off the coasts of Iceland and Scandinavia. This picture was taken in December 1969 and later scanned. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

This is the best pic of your Atlantic series, Sig. Shows the energy of mother nature very well. Good that our mother didn`t now this...
