Description

We have arrived in New York. We have sailed underneath the Verranzano Narrows Bridge and the ocean-going tug on the left (only the funnel is visible) will guide us to our berth in Brooklyn. I am at the same POV as on the previous two uploads-on the flying bridge. On the left side near the bow are three people observing the tugs maneuvers. Two 18-wheel truck trailers are visible that are across the hull, plus another 18-wheel trailer is lengthwise. Several other trailers are on deck but not visible and there was no damage to any of them. This picture will give you an idea as to the conditions of the sea on the previous two uploads. In the left distance part of Lower Manhattan can be seen. This picture was taken in December 1969 and later scanned. Thanks for viewing and commenting on the previous uploads.

Very nice mood in this traveler's capture. It must be unforgettable to reach New-York by sea, as I remember coming onboard the ferryboat that was taking me back to Manhattan from Liberty Island.

Yay, you made it! I'll bet land was a welcome sight after this trip! The Verranzano Narrows Bridge was quite new in 1969, if my memory serves me correctly.
