Description

Still visiting my childhood haunts - this is St Hubert's Church near Idsworth - built in 1053 AD it was once surrounded by a thriving village.It was built in 1053 by Earl Godwin (Father of King Harold) and was used as a hunting lodge by Edward the Confessor. It is now stands alone as the village was destroyed by fire after the majority of the population were killed during an outbreak of the Black Death.

Wow, such an innocent view... with tons of history! Thanks for the background, very interesting! With that in mind you've place this perfectly, as though you are photographing the village around the church but only emptiness now shows. Awesome image in its scope~
