I failed to photograph the other side, so for now I don't know who lost their dear little loved one, unfortunately an all too common occurrence in the mid 1850's. It's heartbreaking seeing so many graves of infants from that time period that pass on, often just days after birth. And many children too. The above poem was written today by Leah, inspired by this photograph. I believe the tombstone carving was meant to give consolation to the grieving parents.
