Description

Hi all, This one was done for a CD cover, well not originally this one as the title say this is version 2, version one is what the band preferred, if you want to see the other version as well you can have a look on my homepage. However, this is the very first piece I created entirely 3d, well not really as you can see there is a lot of postwork as well but that’s just some Photoshop texture layers and effects and stuff like that to make it look more interesting. But I did not a single brushstroke on this, everything apart from the skeleton which is Poser was created in Zbrush even Mr. Death’s cowl down to the tiniest gear wheel is Zbrush. You see I talk a lot about this piece but I’m so happy with Zbrush as it really made 3d working for me. I’m sure there will be more pieces using 3d in future, it was such a lot of fun. Don’t panic I sure don’t quit doing my 2d stuff :-)). Ok you see I really had a lot of fun with this piece, now I really would love to know what you think…

You amaze me, Uwe. This is truly incredible. I love all the detail that went into this. If the band preferred the other, I cannot imagine what the other must look like! Congratulations!

First of all, I know nothing about z-brush. But, I sure do know this is a fantastic piece of work. There is so much fine detail in it. Lots of different textures too. I love the whole design. AWESOME....... Aloha

I would say this is one of your best yet--Zbrush has let you create the shapes you want and light them perfectly all the way through, it looks like a faster way to get images out of your head and down on a piece of paper (and a screen) while keeping the level of detail that you love. Even though this is a horror piece, your joy at creating shines through!

for me it's the end result that counts and whether it's 2d or 3d is not that important imo. this image is great in every way.

Beautiful, eye-feasting work. I think using 3D to generate material for 2D makes a lot of sense and can certainly be a useful tool. ? is always odd how clients tend to go for the second best, Ent. when that happens, the artist gets to keep the best for himself :0)

Outstanding work- especially since I can't seem to make Zbrush do anything. Wonderful integration of 3D and 2D elements and textures. You have added a powerful new tool to your artistic arsenal.
