I'm just a girl with a Nikon D90, who loves taking pictures of just about anything and everything. Postworking my images is 'my thing' .. The main programs I use are: Photoshop CS 5, Corel painter 12. I am currently laid off and seeking employment. I have been in the technical support field for the last 12 years and have really enjoyed the work. Not sure what I want to do now. I think it depends on what is out there and what is available. Competition is tough, there are so many out of work these days.
Anyway! I have been a member at Renderosity since 2004.Â
If you've read this far, I want to thank you for your interest. :) ShariLyn

wonderful portrait!!!!! and there could be done something with the zoos. less animals, more space for each, for example. it shouldn't be a showcase, it should be a refuge. one day for public. the rest of the week days off! each different. so that there could be seen animals on every day (but not all. the crux is: everybody wants everything in every second. nothing is worth any more to wait for... (bad weather outside... ;-) )

Nice shot! Zoos are good places. If this zoo was unwilling to take in this bird, it would have probably been put down. Since it is in a zoo, it was probably so badly injured that it can never be released. The netting is there for the eagles's protection from local birds such as crows, and from objects being thrown at it by the ignorant and stupid. This bird now serves an important purpose to educate people. After seeing an animal like this close-up, most of us have a greater appreciation for the wild ones. Zoos are also critical in the conservation of endangered animals around the globe. Captive breeding programs are designed to maintain the maximum genetic diversity of animals endangered in their wild habitats. We need more zoos, not fewer. Modern zoos are worlds apart from the zoos of 50 or 100 years ago. One of the best ways to support conservation is to support your local zoo.

Great shot of this handsome guy. If he does have a bad wing he wouldn't survive on the outside. We have an eagle with a damaged wing at a local bird sanctuary who has a bad wing too. That's where I get most of my eagle shots. I do wish if they have to be in a zoo that they could afford to give them all lots of room to roam around in. Most still have small enclosures.

I agree that animals, birds and other wildlife, should be free...but, so many are killed by man for sport or the greed of money that it makes me sick. I also agree with JeffG7BRJ. I see a zoo as the lesser of two evils. I'd rather see their species protected in a zoo, rather than becoming extinct by the cruelty of humankind. Your photos are very beautiful and so full of life. Thank you for sharing them. Hugz, Robin
