Description

morning all :o) so lets see , what defines art and who defines it ?.. does anyone really know or is it just believed to be art by the person looking at it !..why is it that someones pic of their dog/cat ,car or whatever is not classified other than nonsense and yet someones elses pics of 3 sticks on a black background is what photography is supposed to be about ART !!..i was going to be devious this morning and put a pic up of nothing ,cover it with a warning, knock off the comments and call it dont look .i wonder how many views it would of got and whether it would make the art charts :o)..my cage has been rattled by a few who seem to think they know everything but not prepared to help anyone except call their work nonsense and not worth looking at .everybody has a right to their own views on what they choose to look at but to actually turn round and say they are not elitist PLEASE dont insult our intelligence .the view is there are 3 catagories within photography on this site 1.progression 2.cats dogs and babies 3.friends comments i have been asked to remove the quote and have done so .. if there is such a group concerning i want to progress where is it ,do i have to send a portfolio of pics to have them looked at before i join !! lets just say i`m happy with what friends i have ,my 30 odd comments and anyone who cares to look and leave a comment whether termed fluffy or constructive thats ok by me . next up what is cc .if i see a pic i like ,i look at its merits and comment accordingly so if i see a pic with what i term as nothing wrong with it does that mean i should`nt comment unless i can critise or do i put whatever superlative i choose to tell them i like it and be termed fluffy .well i dont know and there are a few others feeling the same way .. if i`ve upset anyone by these words ,well i believe there is still freedom of speech ,its my gallery and they are my pics good or bad to my friends i apoligise for the rant and thanks for looking :o) mick

Mick you did hit a sensitive spot with your introduction today, you have my support if you know what I mean. About this capture. Like the foreground covered with different colored stones and Ashleigh's expression is speak for herself, looks realy cold out there, she need a hot choco.

Hey ;o) Interesting point of view, and yet very nicely discussed in a topic of our forum. Art is what you want it to be, and we cannot judge a complete artistical work by one picture, so the goal - i think - is to tell when there is technical errors. If the pic is living by herself, then it's possible to try to understand the message you are trying to give. This idea of three groups is mine and i assume it completely. But, replace it in the context please !!! There is not a group better than another ! This is just 3 differents ways to be in RR, that's all. Some of us are pro or semi-pro in Arts & Graphics, they just want to help. Two times per day, in browse the gallery and i comment when my eyes are surprised by something, i don't do that to have comments. Anyway... i like you pic here, square is difficult but well used here. The dog is.. weird lol Seeya ;o)

A Fantastic Rant, Mick!!!! I absolutely agree with you. There is room for us all. I'm proud to count you as a friend! Anyway, about the pic, I just love Ashleighs expression, it says it all. I'm really interested about why you put your signature where it is, because that's possibly where I would have cropped, but there again, maybe not, as the lovely stones would be gone. I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!

Always beeing polite there is no problem! Poor Ashleigh, seems to be really cold but there is a lovely atmosphere and I like the depth of your capture ;O) Have a great day!

I agree entirely with what you said Mick, I couldn't have done it without expletives though. I haven't got a cat or a dog but the wife has a guinea pig and I have Koi carp in the pond, I'll introduce you to them sometime.lol. Cause I think thats my 'cat' egory Oh! look, I have got a cat and din't know it. Excellent shot of poor Ashleigh, and you know I will like the stones and pebbles so thanks for leaving them in. The expression is priceless, I think she is saying, 'come on Granddad, it's time we went home for a hot drink, you said one more shot 40 frames back'. lol. I think Max's rear end says it all! Bravo!!!!! REMEMBER: GOOD FRIENDS ARE LIKE STARS. YOU DON'T ALWAYS SEE THEM, BUT YOU ALWAYS KNOW THEY ARE THERE!!!!!!

Point of view interesting but difficult to create categories in an objective way. It sometimes happened to me to make photographs of my cats or portraits of my sons but I remain in an artistic step! I do not put a comments nor take favourites to have comments. I take a favourite when it is good for my eyes me and write how to help and give the desire for continuing with certain beginners! Great capture, wonderfull place!

Love the POV, and the way you've cropped this. The square crop with all those stones in the foreground gives the image a feeling of vastness that it otherwise would not have had. Nice work!

Art is the capture of life, Mick. Anyone who says different is an ignoramus. ;o) This shot is excellent. I adore your work, because it's real, and not contrived. I say your entire gallery is quite excellent, and am glad you are my friend.

The misty background and the stature and look on Ashleigh's face certainly conveys the feeling of cold. Nicely done, Mick. As for the rest, create what makes you happy, and happy to share with others, and the (*&^&%) with the rest.

Never read a better rant in my life. I agree with you whole heartedly, Mick. Your shot is wonderful of ashleigh and max. Poor little lass looks cold even though she is wrapped up warmly. I know how she feels. We had more snow in Bay today. Roll on my springtime. Hugs. Diane.

This is a lovely picture of Ashleigh freezing. It must be really cold because usually only you freeze. I agree with you on every issue you raised Mick and I am glad you had the courage to speak up. I think there are many of us that feel like you, but are too meek to speak up, Sig....

I like this photo Mick, the pov chosen underlines the chillfactor the young lady is suffering............ What is special to me are all the stones on the beach, on this side of the Nordsea we only have shells, and "banks"of shell, but this is most likely not the Nordsea coast on your end, but the Irish sea or the south coast of England Have a very nice evening Henk

every since I joined Renderosity there has been people that get their jollies by belittling others and it will not change.I seldom mention anything unless it can be a compliment, and if one wants to find sometime good it is not all that difficult.many of our members have physical impairments and posting anything is a chore and creating art even more so.some are using voice recognition to be able to type.doing more than moving a mouse around is out of the question I agree she does look very cold and of course Max is having a ball. the assortment of rocks and the beauty are outstanding

"...an open community where any and all persons interested in photography can share their experiences and knowledge, post their work for review and critique by their peers, and learn new techniques while developing the skills that allow each individual to realize their own unique artistic vision. We do not limit this forum to any one style or form of photography, and we strongly encourage people of all levels and interests to participate." This is found printed at the top of each page of the Photography Gallery Elsewhere I'm sure, "but I don't get out much"). I wanted to also put here the official definition of ART from our RR Directory but, doggone, wouldn't you know it? There ISN'T one. LOL So let me jump in there and say that for me, this is artistically done. I can feel the chill - from the disappearing horizon, the whisps of hair floating about her face, the stance of Ashleigh in that woolen coat... I like the pov that accents the unusual beach with its colored rocks yet still allows the mood to come through. Well done, my friend. And so I wonder... RR stands for Rendorosity but perhaps it also stands for Rant and Rave. LOL. You are quite the English Bulldog, Mick! I'm behind ya.
