Description
Before the 'Bad Hair Day' This is the home made bird bath and the Magpies love it. Pauline had this full of pot pourie and a couple of times in the house it got knocked over and all the shavings and dead flower heads fell out and made a real mess so she decided to get rid of it. I got an old icecream tub turned it upside down glued it in place and the birds had a bath. A bit crude but it works for the magpies. Three of them used to come every afternoon that it was sunny and take turns, having a drink and a bath. This one again was taken through the kitchen window and I had to focus through the venetian blinds. The slightest movement and they were off. This one had just lifted its head and looked strait at me. You can just see a couple of drops of water against the breast.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make.
May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.
Hospital appointment this morning for me so I will catch you all up later.
By the way, the netting you see in the background is covering my pond, guarding against heron attacks, we have a bird sanctuary about 2 miles as the heron flies, and they had 27 breeding pairs at the last count.

Yep, wimmins are very particular about bathing! Um, you get heron attacks? I thought we had it bad with moose!

Excellent timing Jeff and you did a great job in making the bird bath - wouldn't have guessed it was an icecream tub!!

Very cute!!! I love the title:-) Heron attacks!!!! I didn't think you were attacked by anything any more in the UK, except maybe chilblains:-) :-) I hope the hospital visit goes OK my friend! Hugs

Just to set things right, the ice cream tub is upside down inside the glass 'police mans helmet', that is what the pot pourie was in. The herons attack my fish not me.lol. A friend of mine spent nearly a £1000.00 on stocking his pond, had them in a week, woke up one morning and they had all gone. His nieghbour told him he saw a big bird land, but didn't realise what it was doing. He now has a net like mine.

Great shot, I love reading the stories you add. Maybe this gal' is attracted to the wonderful blue color of this creatively made bird bath.

Ah, the inverted tub inside the bowl would explain how she is standing... Your stories and info are always entertaining! Cute capture~ Well wishes on the medical appointment.

Great capture! I love the blue of the bird bath exterior. You must have been very patient to sit there with your camera stuck through the blinds! I imagine you at the window with your cup of coffee, enjoying the heck out of yourself!

very clear for shooting through a window.usually several robins visit my front yard daily but my insulated glass has condensation so I do not even bother trying to capture them.I plan on replacing the glass maybe this spring

Great foto, and your story is just as good. I wish I only had herons to guard against, the biggest pests in my garden are bears!!!! You wouldn't believe what they can do to my METAL compost cans. Oh yeah, then there are the deer as well, rats with horns. (sorry, bambi lovers, but these creatures can put a garden to ruin in a matter of hours~~~ no I don't do anything drastic, just run out and scream at them like a madwoman!! seems to have worked, haven't seen em in quite a while!!!)

A wonderful capture Jeff, I love the blue of the bath perhaps she does too. We have herons too but they fish at sea. Hope all went well with your hospital appt. Have a wonderful evening. Sunshine hugs Diane. xx

That's an indignant little face for sure. I have always thought it was too bad that animals had their entire toilet experience open to public viewing. I don't think I'd be pleased if the world could watch me brush my teeth or bathe... still, it does seem to satisfy a large portion of the voyeur side of a person. :-)

Great capture and title, I have Magpies around my Flat all the time, they don't have a good reputation coz they tend to fight the other birds. This bird bath is a treat for them Jeff. And thanks you always tell a good story too.
